Meet the team travelling to South Africa to represent the Isle of Man at the 2024 Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in October.

Aly will be competing in the 84kg M1 category
Aly had this to say on the opportunity:-
“I'm very excited to have been selected for the commonwealth team, its such a fantastic opportunity for the islands lifters to be on a world stage, competing with the best.
I'm looking forward to putting in a great performance for the team and being able to see my team mates smash it on the platform.
If anybody is thinking about trying powerlifting, give it a go! You won't regret it.”
Harry will be competing in the 66kg Sub-Junior category at just 15 years old.
Harry had this to say on the opportunity:-
“I’m incredibly honoured to be able to compete in South Africa this year as part of the Isle of Man team.
This will be an exciting opportunity to demonstrate my skills as a powerlifter and help promote the sport I love doing at the same time”
Cye will be competing in the 105kg open category
Cye had this to say on the opportunity:-
"Im very excited to be picked for the commonwealth team again and proud to wear the IOM gear.
It will be good to see how things have progressed over the past couple of years of Manx Powerlifting and the lifters!!"
Freya will be competing in the 84+ Sub Junior category at just 16 years old.
Freya had this to say on the opportunity:-
"I’m delighted to have been selected to represent the island. I’m so excited and super proud to have been given this opportunity to compete amongst the best in the sport on the other side of the world!”
Kerry will be competing in the 63kg M2 category.
Kerry had this to say on the opportunity:-
“I'm absolutely thrilled to be representing the Isle of Man at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships for the second time, even more so sharing the platform with my amazing daughter Teagan. This is an exciting opportunity and I'm honoured to have been selected. We have a fantastic team and I'm looking forward to watching each of them compete.
I have been powerlifting for just over 3 years and competing for around 2 1/2 years in the masters category and I absolutely love my sport”
Kail will be competing as a 66kg Open
Kail had this to say on the opportunity:-
“Excited to announce I'll be competing in the 2024 Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships!
I hold the Manx National Record for Men's Open 66kg with a 422.5 kg total.
Ready to improve and aim for British qualifying totals.
Let's inspire the next generation and show the power of lifting!”
Kerry will be competing as an 84+ M1
Kerry had this to say on the opportunity:-
"I am so excited to be representing the Isle of Man in South Africa - it is such a privilege and a honour to be on the team.
I’ve been powerlifting for 2 and half years now but really knuckled down with the training for the last 6 months so that I can achieve a good result for the team in October!
Looking forward to competing with an amazing team of people from the Island as well as meeting some amazing athletes from the other Commonwealth countries”
Sam will be competing as an 83kg Sub-Junior
Sam had this to say on the opportunity:-
“Hi I’m Samuel Harris I’m 18 years old and I’ve been powerlifting for about 9 months although I’ve been consistently in the gym for over 2 years.
I’m looking forward to being able to represent the Isle of Man and very excited to compete at the commonwealth championships”
